Salt Ayre Sports Centre

 

Salt Ayre Sports Centre is the largest sports and leisure centre in the Lancaster district and is conveniently located half-way between Lancaster and Morecambe. The centre offers a wide range of indoor sport and leisure activities all year round. Their indoor facilities include Swimming Pool, a large indoor sports hall, Projectile Hall, fitness/dance studio, a fully equipped Reflexions gym and sauna steam suite. The swimming pool is the largest in the area and is suitable for everyone with a main 25m pool, learner pool, spa pool and waterslide making it great fun for all the family. Throughout the week there are dedicated sessions of lane swimming, children’s activities and float sessions, plus the exciting 40m waterslide is open weekends and throughout school holidays.

The Storey

 

Central Lancaster’s artistic, technical and scientific innovation for 130 years, the Storey Institute was remodelled in 2009 as a purpose designed centre for the creative industries, featuring art galleries, auditoria and guest exhibitions. The building is open to the public to visit the Information Centre, eat and drink at the cafe-bar and restaurant, and visit the exhibitions, many of which are free.

The Cottage Museum

The Cottage Museum offers an intimate glimpse of early Victorian life in this tiny and intriguing 18th-Century cottage spread over 5 floors. Lancaster Brewery and Visitor Centre

 

Since its relaunch in November 2007 Lancaster Brewery has gone from strength to strength becoming one of the fastest growing breweries in the United Kingdom. Brewing at full capacity with demand outstripping supply, the Brewery recently moved to much bigger premises on Lancaster Leisure park beside Williamson Park. Their newly built ‘state of the art’ brewhouse enables them to brew enough of their top quality ales to supply all demands, and their visitor centre will allow customers to visit and become friendly.

Ruskin Library

 

The home of the Whitehouse Collection of Ruskin materials, The Ruskin Library contains a Reading Room, for those using the Collection for research, and a public Gallery. The collection is a fascinating mixture of pictures, books manuscripts and photographs relating to the great Victorian writer and artist John Ruskin (1819-1900) who spent his later life at Brantwood, near Coniston in the Lake District.
